Our WinemakerWe have two winemakers. Chris Ringland our neighbour and friend was our original winemaker. Chris has been the winemaker at Rockford's and has his own label "Three Rivers" now "Chris Ringland Shiraz" as well as making wine in Spain, Italy and America. Chris is an outstanding winemaker. Hobbs relationship with Chris is one that was simply meant to happen. Chris has been our friend, next-door neighbour and consultant winemaker since day one. He lives by the ideal of growing superb quality fruit to make great wine. We have enjoyed many a long and animated discussion with Chris in the vineyard, as well as over good meals and a glass or two of what we make. It’s been enjoyable time, well spent on blending thoughts and ideas that have helped form the individual styles of our wines. Too this day Chris remains our consultant. Our other wine maker is Pete Schell from Spinifex Wines. Pete has made wine in both Australia and France. He was the head winemaker at Turkey Flat before starting out on his own. We believe Pete is one of the very best winemakers around. He has a sensational palate and nose and superb winemaking skills. He believes in the quality and power of fruit. Pete has great integrity and honesty and this comes through in his approach to winemaking. The combination of Chris's and Pete's skill, our belief in our fruit, and our desire to make only wines of exceptional quality, are fast making Hobbs one of Australia’s true premium labels. |
