Hobbs Semillon

Dessert Wines Sweet Wine Semillon Fine Wine

Wine Description

Picked from our own Semillon vines planted in the early 1960's. All of our dessert wines are made the same way. We do not use Botrytis infected fruit or fortification in any of our dessert wines. After hand picking the grapes are placed into trays and semi dried. This drying process highlights and intensifies natural flavours and aromas. Giving a very long clean and crisp finish combined with wonderful fruit.

Wine Tasting Notes

This sweet wine is pale gold in colour with a nose of lush ripe fruit, peaches, nectarines, apricots and then pineapple and passionfruit. A luscious, full-bodied, velvety mouth-feel and flavours of kiwi fruit finishing with grapefruit and marmalade. Long length in flavours with lovely acid balance leaving a fresh sweetness on the palate.

Wine Reviews

2006 Hobbs Semillon
Rating: 91 points

The 2006 Semillon is light gold-colored with exotic aromas of mineral, apricot, peach, and lemon meringue. It is medium-sweet, intense and lengthy on the palate.

Greg and Allison Hobbs¹ vineyards are contiguous with Chris Ringland's Three Rivers vineyards; furthermore, Ringland is a consultant to winemaker Peter Schell. The Hobbs dessert wines are made with minimal intervention and are bottled unfined and unfiltered.
